On
Sunday, May 1, 2011, I read my resignation letter to the congregation
at Gulfhaven.
For several months, the elders and I have been talking about
a succession plan from Gulfhaven and a transition to Relevant
Ministry. In March, I shared a two-year commitment to serve
part-time at Gulfhaven with an emphasis on teaching/preaching.
At the same time, I recommended that Zach be considered as a full-time
associate pastor with a focus on shepherding and worship.
After several meetings, a majority of the elders believed that
the church would be best served by a full-time pastor. Together,
we set May 22 as my last Sunday. It has been a privilege to pastor
at Gulfhaven the past seven years. We love everyone here and it
will be hard to leave.
Pray for Pam and me as we give leadership to RM’s growth
and development. This is a faith step. We are praying for people
to partner with us during this transition at a variety of levels.
