The Elder Leadership Team

The Leadership Team at Gulfhaven Church has the awesome responsibility of knowing and doing the will of God for the Body. The congregation selects and invests the leadership with governing authority.

Ultimately, the church is a theocracy, meaning it is God-governed. The congregation in a democratic process selects their leadership, men who are spiritual and will seek God to lead them. The leaders are responsible then to both God and the congregation in their leadership. Christ Himself is the ultimate authority of the Church.

Acts 20:28 “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church…”

I Thessalonians 5:12-13 “Now we ask you, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.”

I Peter 5:2-3 “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers – not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”

The apostles said their own task was two-fold: "…give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." (Acts 6:4)

The Leadership Team at Gulfhaven is responsible not only for the care of the flock but also for the direction and future of the flock. The Leadership Team is responsible for the spiritual welfare of the church and they spend time in prayer for the needs of the congregation.
