September 5-11

Volunteer Work Crews at Gulfhaven from Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

 
Florida work crew covers Dave and Sue's roof on Friday.   Getting trees out of the way so electric service can be brought into Dave and Sue's houes. It's Friday, September 9 and still no electricity here.
 
There are a lot of trees to cut and remove.   More trees to cut and remove.
 
There's not a home on the coast without some damage.   The work crew from Pennsylvania removed a tree that fell on this house.
 
This is in Pass Christian. The Gulf can be seen at the end of the street. Marc and Myrna's street in Long Beach looks just like this.   More tree removal.
 
Ward and Brenda's home.   The north end of Ward and Brenda's home was blown away. Tarps go up Friday morning, September 9th.
 
The work crew from Pennsylvania starts the day with ham and 'eggs in a nest'.   A crew from Florida gets ready to work on Friday.
 
MREs (meals ready to eat) are on the menu for Thursday dinner.   The work crew from Florida arrives around 1:30 Friday morning.
 
Gulfhaven will gather at 9:30 on Sunday morning for worship for awhile.   We're down but not to stay.
 
Roof work continues on Wednesday, September 7.   Currently, we are making temporary repairs on roofs and getting ready to move on to the next phase.
 
We finally got all the parts needed and the pump to the church was repaired on Tuesday, September 6.   Gulfhaven is working with MDS as a site for disaster volunteer projects.
 
Fallen trees are all around Hazel's home.   Tree removal and roof repair began at Hazel's house.

A group of men from Pennsylvania covered a roof on Tuesday, September 6.   The first work crew began early Monday morning, September 5. Steve Miller worked with two men from Ohio.
 
Supplies from Illinois are distributed following the Worship Service on September 4th.   The Gulfhaven congregation is blessed.
 
Supplies arrived from Illinois Sunday morning, September 4th just before the Worship Service.   Debbie Sullivan goes over work crew jobs with Pastor Nelson.
 
Pastor Nelson listens to Katrina experiences from the congregation on the first Sunday after the storm.   Because we did no have electricity, MDS sent an 80 watt generator. Tarps and MCC canned meat are also brought from Pennsylvania.
 
September 4 - Our first Worship Service after Katrina. About one-third of the congregation was able to attend.   Pastor Nelson and his wife Pam see the church building on Thursday, September 1.
