When Jesus said, “I will build my church”
in Matthew 16:18 it was the first mention of the word
church in the Bible. It was a new concept to the disciples.
The church began after Christ’s return to heaven
on the day of Pentecost.
So, what is the church? How does the church fit with
Jesus’ two pointed questions? Who do people say
the Son of Man is? And, who do you say I am?
Getting Christ’s identity right seems important.
Also getting church right seems equally important. Let’s
