Joshua chapter 8 is a model for making comebacks from failure. Joshua had led Israel into the Promised Land, victory was experienced at Jericho, and the sin that led way to the loss at Ai had been dealt with. So what is next? Are comebacks possible? How do you do that?

In this chapter we see the response of God and we also learn from the response of Israel to their failure. What do we do? What keeps us from giving up? Can we work through shame that paralyzes us? We learn from the second chance at Ai how to get back on track and recover from a loss.
