In chapter nine Joshua learns that things are not always as they seem. A city that is on the list to be destroyed tricks the Israelites to make a treaty with them. It was an all out pre-meditated deception. They tricked and lied to Israel. From this we learn how to navigate through the hard and difficult parts of life. If it is not one thing, it seems to be the other. What do you do when you are thrown a curve ball? What was the mistake made this time? How can we take cautions and improve our decision making? If we make a decision that has a bad outcome do we have to keep it? Answers to these questions and others can be discovered in this chapter and they have relevant application to our lives today.
