The Bible is a great book for a study about the topic of
leadership. The Bible teaches principles to be an
effective leader.
The Bible
advocates moral character - "Keep thy heart with
all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life" (Proverbs
4:23). References to heart in the Bible refer to a person’s
consciousness and emotions. A leader must have moral
character.
A leader must be a person of vision.
Solomon also said "Where there is no vision, the
people perish." (Proverbs 29:18a) Effective leaders
lead people in a direction. Knowing what direction to
take is vital. Leaders also have an ability of communicating
or casting the importance of the vision.
Another Biblical
leadership quality is perseverance. Perseverance is
a critical skill of leadership. Opposition and adversity
will more than likely fall in the path of moving forward.
When challenged leaders must keep their eyes on the
goals.
In this series we will learn these essential
skills
of leaders: good moral character, casting vision,
and perseverance.
