Chapters 2 and 3, in Revelation are about the church
age. We are living now in this time period which is represented
by these 7 churches. Each church is examined and Jesus
determines whether they are healthy or not. In the beginning
of chapter 2, Jesus is walking among the churches. At
the end of chapter 3, He is found outside of the church
knocking on the door.
Churches are made up of people, so as we determine healthy
and sick qualities of each church we can learn what kind
of people we should be. II Peter 3:10-11 says it like
this, "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.
The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will
be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in
it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed
in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You
ought to live holy and godly lives..."
