The early church in Acts prayed together and they serve
as a model for us today. "They continued steadfastly
in prayers," Acts 2:42. Before Pentecost, "they
all joined together constantly in prayer," Acts 1:14.
When Peter and John were released from prison it was because,
"they raised their voices together in prayer,"
Acts 4:24.
In our text in Matthew 18 we learn that there is a promise
of power and a promise of the presence of Christ when
we prayer together. Though biblical, this concept of praying
with others may go against the stream. It is easier to
pray by ourselves, to pray silently, and privately. It
is harder involving others. Let us find out why and how
we can overcome. And let us learn the blessings of the
promises of praying with others.
This sermon was preached on November 11, 2007 which was
Veteran’s Day. Hear Pastor Nelson’s prayer
of thanksgiving for our country and for the men and
women who have served in various ways. |
