Thomas Edwin Ward, age 74, of Gulfport, died Friday, August 14, 2009, in Gulfport. Mr. Ward was a native of Tunica County, MS. He began his service to his Lord and Savior as a Sunday School Superintendant at the First Baptist Church, Dundee, MS. He continued serving the Lord by his physical and spiritual presence until the day of his death. Mr. Ward graduated from Memphis State University and served as a Captain with the United States Air Force. He retired as a Systems Engineer with IBM working on the space program at NASA in Houston, TX. He worked as a consultant at KAFB, was an active member of Gulf Haven Mennonite Church, and was a member of MS Archaeology Society.

Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Regenold Ward, son, Stephen Ward, parents, Walter and Maggie Shepherd Ward, a sister, Maurine Embry, and a brother, Walter Eugene Ward. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Stiglets-Ward, two children, Robert "Bob" Ward and his wife Tina, Houston, TX, and Michael Ward and his wife Kimberly, Austin, TX; step-children, Stephanie (James) Hanzalik, William (Imelda) Stiglets, Stephen (Lisa) Stiglets, and Sean (Shirley) Stiglets; a sister, Jimmie (J.C.) Dabadie, Baton Rouge, LA; 16 grandchildren, and an expected grandson.

Visitation will be Monday, August 17, 2009, from 6 - 8 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Gulf Haven Mennonite Church where friends may visit from 10 - 11 am. Interment will be in Gulf Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Pine Lake Fellowship Camp c/o Gulf Haven Mennonite Church, 21497 Mennonite Rd, Gulfport, MS 39503.
